The Maharashtra Mandal of Jacksonville,
Florida will celebrate "Smaranyatra"
on October 25, 2009 from 2 PM to 5 PM at Brooks Family YMCA.
"Smaranyatra" is a documentary which showcases the history of
Marathi cinematic music . The highlights of this program are :-
1. It traces the evolution of Marathi cinema from 1932 to 1992. It
features clips from the first movie 'Raja Harishchandra'
2. It has clips from classic movies interlinked and woven with live
performances from established singers.
3. It has songs which belong to various important music composers,
lyricists, singers as well as epoch movies of the Marathi cinema
4. It has been compiled by Sudhir Moghe and compered by Sudhir
Gadgil.
5. It includes performances from Ravindra Sathe, Anuradha Marathe,
Ranjana
Pete, Mrudhala Dhade, Mukund Phalsankar and Tyagraj
Khadlikar.
6. It includes special performances from Suresh Wadkar and Sridhar
Phadke
7. It includes clips from classic Marathi cinema such as
Brahamachari, Manoos, Amar Bhupali, etc
8. This event was originally performed at "Akhil Jagtik Marathi
Parishad"
We hope it will be a good trip down the memory lane as the name
suggests. A very light-hearted and broad-minded event which fits
into the genre of "Marathi Maifeel"
